Get to know your new Scoutmaster

Most of you have seen me around over the years or know me as Alex, Jason, or Tyler’s dad, but I was asked to share a little bit about myself so everyone can get to know me a little better.

I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, not all that far from Philmont Scout Ranch. I lived in California, Arkansas, Wisconsin, and Michigan growing up. My scouting experience began with Pack 333 in Gwinn, Michigan in the UP. After earning my arrow of light, I crossed over to Boy Scouts in Troop 333. After attaining my Life rank, we moved to Rhinelander, WI and I transferred to Troop 560 chartered by St. Mary’s Church. This is where I earned my Eagle Rank and three palms.

I served on camp staff at Camp Tesomas and later part of the Varsity crew. I was very active in the Order of the Arrow, serving as Chapter Chief and on the dance team.

Scouting has given me the foundation for virtually everything in life. As a matter of fact, having Eagle Scout on my resume clinched my hiring in the job I’ve held for the last 15 years. For the past 9 years I have served as a leader in Pack 3794 and an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 741 as well as serving on the district committee.

As scoutmaster, I plan to carry on many of the troop traditions held so dear as well as introduce so new ideas and experiences in an effort to spread the scouting experience to greatest number of boys possible. Feel free to approach me, email, or call me with anything you need, would like to see done, or just talk. I look forward to the years ahead as some of the best years of our lives. Let’s make the most of them.

– Kyle Richards, Troop 741 Scoutmaster
