Cub Scout Pack 3665 - Chicago Ridge, IL

Cub Scouts

Why Join Cub Scouts?

Your time is valuable. Today's families, more than ever, struggle to find time to spend together. Cub Scouting helps to support your family by providing ready made opportunities for you and your son to do things together.

Your son needs to belong to a group of boys his own age. Through this sense of belonging he builds his self esteem and learns to get along with others. As a parent, you

want to be assured that the groups that your boy joins will teach values consistent with good citizenship, character development, and physical fitness. Boy Scouts of America has been weaving these lifetime values into fun and educational activities since 1910.

In a society where your son is taught that winning is everything, Cub
Scouting teaches him to “do his best" and to be helpful to others.

Scouting teaches family values and works to strengthen your relationship with your son.  Scouting activities can bring added value to the time you already have with your son.

But we know that boys do not join Cub Scouts to build their character. Boys join because it is fun.

Scouting is fun with a purpose!

Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack. The most important are the weekly den meetings and the monthly pack meetings.

Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging.

Come join the fun of Cub Scouting as a family... it's fun!

You'll make new friends, too, as you work with the parents of your son's new friends. No job is too difficult when you're having fun as part of a team of Cub Scout parents, reinforcing each others' efforts to help your boys grow up to be good citizens.

Join Us in Cub Scouting!

Scout Oath

On my honor, I will do my best.
 To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
 To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Scout Law

A Scout is trustworthy,
loyal, helpful,
friendly, courteous,
kind, obedient,
cheerful, thrifty,
brave, clean,
and reverent.

Motto

Do your best!

Welcome to Pack 3665

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 3665,

Chicago Ridge

We are excited about our Cub Scout program. We plan to have a lot of fun this year, while benefitting from the character-building values of Scouting.

How the pack works:

The pack is divided into dens [Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos] according to grade level.

The Dens meets once a week.  (September – May)   Each den works towards earning their respective rank through age-appropriate activities.  The pack comes together for one pack meeting a month. This is a time for fellowship, awards, announcements, etc., and the whole family is welcome. The pack as a whole may participate in outings and events offered by the Chicago area Scouting community.

Cost:

We try to keep our outing costs as low as possible, so we can afford to do more fun activities. Monthly den dues, collected at beginning of the year, cover the supplies used in den meetings. (September - May)

Costs of pack outings and events vary.

We do not have Den Nights and Pack Nights in the summer months, but our Pack participates in many summer events.  We have a few activities planned each month! This information will be given at our last pack night.

Uniforms:

The uniform is an important aspect of Scouting. Cub Scouts wear the blue shirt [Webelos, grades 4th -5th may wear tan], a hat, and a neckerchief with slide for their rank.  (Neckerchief and slide is provided by the pack.)  They need the pack numbers [3665], the Pathways to Adventure Council Patch and World Crest Emblem (purple circle). They will also need the handbook for their rank.

Tip: Buy a uniform with “room to grow”, and short sleeves for year-round comfort [you can wear layers underneath]. Patch vests are optional.
We will take orders for pack tee shirts at the beginning of the year.  These are often worn on informal occasions instead of the uniform.(class B uniform) Adults are encouraged to get a pack t-shirt too.

Advancement:

The Cub Scout program is family-oriented… not all achievements can be done at the den meetings.  Many are designed to be family activities. Parents can sign off on activities

that satisfy any requirements in their handbook, even from the summer preceding their rank… we just ask that you “Do Your Best!” There are many opportunities for scouts to earn awards while exploring areas of interest to them, setting goals and achieving them. We strive wherever possible to grant immediate recognition… we celebrate and reward a job well done!

Volunteers:

Everyone involved in our pack is a volunteer.  Therefore we welcome everyone’s input and help. The more involved our families are, the more we can offer our scouts. Please support your den leaders and help them as much as possible, as they are donating their time and effort. There are so many areas where we can use an extra hand… please see any of our pack committee and leaders if you are able to volunteer in any way, big or small—there’s nothing more rewarding than to make a difference in the life of a child.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to call us!
